Pick Your Vinyl Banners Size Based on Location

Posted by Ara Abrahamian on

Those who are new to creating vinyl advertising banners might have a few questions pertaining to the size of the banner they should choose. The size of the banner is directly related to how far out you want to target and what size your display space can accommodate. When selecting the proper banner size, keep these tips in mind.

Targeting Traffic Farther Away: If your location is off the beaten path and you are looking to draw people toward your business, the larger the vinyl banner, the better. People’s eyes are usually attracted to the largest thing in their path. Unlike billboards that are either hit or miss with their effectiveness, banners can be placed at a lower level in order to keep the advertisement at eye height. Common sense tells us that the larger the banner, the farther your message will reach.

Keep the Size Proportional: Have you ever seen a huge banner hanging from a tiny shop? Your first impression was probably that it looks ridiculous and then your second thought was- what did that say? The size of your vinyl banner should remain proportionate to your space. You can have a banner span the complete top of your awning or hang down from the top but too much over hang in any direction will result in a sloppy and unprofessional look. You can get “big” without being over the top. Aside from the unsightly appearance of the improper sized banner, you also have the problem of not being able to read the message clearly. A banner should remain taught and firmly in place so it does not fold up onto itself or have too much slack where is crinkles up.

Banner Stands Are a Useful Tool for Retail Stores and More: Do not forget that banners can also be displayed on banner stands. Banners stands are designed to keep the banner at a lower level and attract foot traffic. Perfect scenarios for this type of displaying method would be at a mall, trade show, department store and other retail or professional places or events.

The general process of selecting a banner is not hard at all- it just involves a little common sense. Always be sure to measure out the space before you actually purchase the vinyl banner. Keeping it within the parameters of your space in an orderly fashion will help your business maintain a professional and clean appearance. The presence of a banner reflects directly on the business and often times serves as a “first impression” when a new consumer is involved.
